What hair botox actually is

Despite the name, there is no botox in it and no needles involved. Brazilian hair botox is a deep conditioning treatment. It fills the gaps in damaged hair with proteins, amino acids and conditioning agents, then seals them in with heat.

The result is hair that feels thicker, looks glossier and behaves in humidity. It softens curl and removes frizz — but it is not a straightening treatment. If you want poker-straight hair, this is the wrong treatment and we will tell you so.

Who it suits

• Hair that feels dry, brittle or straw-like after years of colouring
• Frizz that reappears the moment you step outside
• Bleached or over-processed hair that needs rebuilding, not relaxing
• Anyone who wants their natural texture kept, just smoother and shinier

It is not the right choice if your hair is very coarse and you want it straight. For that, look at nanoplasty or permanent straightening.

What happens on the day

Allow about three and a half hours.

• Consultation. We assess your hair’s condition, porosity and colour history, and confirm the treatment is right for you.
• Clarifying wash. Product build-up is removed so the treatment can penetrate.
• Application. The treatment is worked through section by section and left to develop.
• Heat sealing. Blow-dried and flat-ironed to seal the proteins into the hair shaft.
• Finish. Rinsed and styled, so you leave seeing the result.

How long it lasts

Typically two to three months, depending on how often you wash your hair and what you wash it with. It fades gradually rather than growing out in a line, so there is no awkward regrowth stage.

Aftercare

A sulphate-free shampoo makes the single biggest difference to how long it lasts — sulphates strip the treatment out. Your stylist will give you specific instructions for the formula used on your hair, including how soon you can wash it.

Common questions

Will it make my hair straight?

No. It relaxes and smooths, and it will loosen a curl, but it does not straighten. If straight is the goal, ask us about nanoplasty or permanent straightening.

Can I have it if my hair is coloured?

Yes, and coloured hair is often exactly the hair that benefits most. Tell us your colour history at the consultation.

Is it safe for damaged hair?

Yes — it is a repair treatment, so damaged hair is what it is designed for. We will still assess your hair first.

How is it different from a keratin treatment?

Hair botox repairs and conditions. Keratin coats and smooths. They feel similar in the first week but do different jobs. We compare all three here.
